Flash Point (two words) in chemistry: The flash point of a flammable liquid is the lowest temperature at which it can form an ignitable mixture in air. (This definition was my original reason for using Flash Point as my book title because my main character can make a hydrogen fireball with simple water using the power of her mind)

Flashpoint* (one word, one of a couple definitions) critical stage: the critical stage in some process, event, or situation at which action, change, or violence occurs (This definition is definitely applicable to my book as well…. not to mention, I like the way it looks…)

*Although I was concerned I had been beaten to the finish line when I heard about a TV show called Flashpoint, I was relieved to find my story had nothing to do with their plot lines. They have an interesting concept, but I have never actually watched their show.
